"Why do I bother?" I've asked myself that fairly often. I'm not really sure there is an answer, at least to the question in its most general sense. I've more or less come to a place where I think 'What else is there to do?' Of course, if you are referencing a particular situation, what I just said doesn't go. Sometimes, you do need to stop bothering, when people aren't worth your trouble anymore.
